About MedTech Connect
MedTech Connect publishes practical insights from founders and operators who've actually built healthcare companies—raised capital in brutal markets, navigated FDA pathways, run clinical trials, and made plenty of mistakes along the way.
No theory. No corporate fluff. Just hard-won lessons from practitioners.
What We Publish
Our essays and summit talks cover the topics that keep MedTech founders up at night:
- Fundraising: Why you need to talk to 100 investors, how to create FOMO, and what "if you get a lead, I'll come in" really means
- Regulatory strategy: How companies like Owlet lost years by skipping homework, and frameworks for scoring regulatory risk before you build
- Pivoting: When the data says your original idea won't work—and how to bring your team along emotionally
- Design: Customer journey mapping, scrappy prototyping, and why the paperclip might be the best design ever made
- Clinical partnerships: Compensation frameworks for MD advisors, and why junior trialists often outperform big names
- Scaling adoption: Why executive buy-in gets you in the door, but middle management keeps you there

MedTech Summit
We host the MedTech Summit, where founders share what actually worked (and what didn't). No keynote platitudes—just practitioners talking to practitioners. Talks are recorded and published as essays so the insights reach beyond the room.
About John M. P. Knox

John founded MedTech Connect after mentoring 200+ founders and seeing the same questions come up repeatedly. The answers existed—scattered across the heads of experienced operators—but weren't easily accessible to MedTech and HealthTech founders.
John's background: John has worked in seven industries, including helping develop a Class III neurostimulator, holds seven patents, and has been on both sides of the table as an angel investor and LP in startup accelerators. He's also written Diagnosing a MedTech Startup, a framework for identifying what's holding a business back. But MedTech Connect isn't about his experience—it's about capturing the collective knowledge of people who've done the hard work of building healthcare companies.
Through Moving Average Inc, John work directly with select CEOs on the strategic and technical challenges that don't have obvious answers—hidden misalignments between product, team, and market that quietly stall growth. If that sounds like your situation, let's talk.
